About Steph Davis:
Steph Davis is the first woman to free-climb the Salathe Wall on El Capitan. Besides this, she is the second woman to free-climb El Capitan in under 24 hours. If that isn’t enough, Steph has managed to pin down numerous first ascents – we’re talking about rock- and high altitude climbs – on mountains all around the world.
“Emotion and fear
It’s easy to confuse intense emotion with fear.” Steph Davis
Because not only it’s already impressive to have nerves of steel in order to be able to do such a thing as free-climbing – since there is no use of ropes or protective gear – what amazes me about this outdoor-champion is that she is also one of the world’s top base jumpers and the only girl combining base jumping with free climbing. But the true, main reason why I think she deserves a shout-out is that she shares her motivation and thoughts about life and the outdoor sports with her community in a genuine way. After being through some heavy setbacks, like the loss of her husband during a base jump accident, she is still going and doing what she loves to do. That’s brave.
