Taking it to the extreme

Maybe you have
or maybe you have never heard of Steph Davis.
If the latter is the case,
let me introduce to you:

Steph Davis is the first woman to free-climb the Salathe Wall on El Capitan. Besides this, she is the second woman to free-climb El Capitan in under 24 hours! Pretty badass, huh? If that isn’t enough, Steph Davis has managed to pin down numerous first ascents  – we’re talking about rock and high altitude climbs – on mountains all around the world. Did you know she left law school to pursue her dream and become a climber? True story and she became good at it.

“emotion and fear

It’s easy to confuse intense emotion with fear.”  Steph Davis

Because not only it’s already very admirable to have nerves of steel in order to be able to do such a thing as free-climbing – since there is no use of ropes or protective gear  – what amazes me about this outdoor-champion is that she is also one of the world’s top base jumpers and the only girl combining base jumping with free climbing. But the true, main reason why I think she deserves a shout-out is that she shares her motivation, thoughts, and love about life and the outdoor sports with her community (and psst she’s vegan ;)). After being through some heavy setbacks, like the loss of her husband during a base jump accident, she is still going and doing what she loves to do.

You can read more about her here.
Or listen to her talk where she explains what she has learned along her non-traditional career path.

Who inspires you to chase your dreams? And would you go as far as Steph?
